Romantic Greeting Cards and Love Letters

An unbelievable number of love greeting cards and letters were sent by Harry to the love of his life Bess...more than 1,300.

Harry first met Bess when he was six-years-old and Bess was five. He described her as having, "golden curls and beautiful blue eyes."

They graduated from high school together and then went their separate ways. Nine years later they became reacquainted and Harry then wrote of Bess, "I thought she was the most beautiful and the sweetest person on earth."

Through nine years of courtship and 53 years of marriage, Harry S. Truman, 33rd President of the United States, wrote more than 1,300 greeting cards and letters to his beloved Bess.

You don't have to write 1,300 romantic greeting cards to let that special person in your life know you're thinking of them. One will do...for now.

Beat the "Blues" on Blue Monday

Today, Monday, January 25th has been designated the most depressing day of the year...Blue Monday. Dr. Cliff Arnall, mental health professional, tells us that the third Monday in January is the day of the year that most lends itself to depression or feeling "down."

Three reasons cited by Dr. Arnall for feeling "blue" on Blue Monday include...
  • more gloomy winter weather
  • debt carried over from Christmas and the holidays
  • New Year's resolutions already broken

While it might make sense that gloomy weather, holiday debt, and broken New Year's resolutions can lead to depression, take heart, because you're not doomed to depression on Blue Monday..today or any day.

Research shows that an attitude of gratitude can result in emotional healing in your stress-filled life. Some benefits of gratitude include...
  • ...feeling higher levels of well-being
  • ...coping better with changes in life
  • ...feeling happier
  • ...being less-stressed
  • ...sleeping better, and
  • ...being less-depressed

So, beat depression on this Blue Monday by expressing words of gratitude to a special person in your life. A quick, simple way to make a difference in your own life by making a difference in the life of another is to send online greeting cards.

Greeting Cards and Human Nature

How many of us have friends, acquaintances, or even family members who tend to be skeptical, negative, miserly...even Scrooge-like at times. We won't name names, but as you read this I'll bet at least one person who fits this description comes to your mind.

Well, guess what! There's good news! An Attitude Adjustment could be just a Greeting Card away!

A study conducted at the University of Rochester reports that after looking at nature scenes...people actually become more caring, community-oriented, and generous.

Why not conduct your own study and send greeting cards with nature scenes to your "glass-half-empty" friends. Include a short, kind "thinking of you" note and see what results you get.

Oh, one more thing...you don't have to tell your friends WHY you're thinking about them. That can be our secret!

WELCOME!

Hello and welcome to my blog Greeting Card Connection. As you might suspect from my blog title, I LOVE Greeting Cards! I'm one of "those" people who stand forever at the greeting card counter reading and laughing out loud at the humorous greeting cards.

On this blog I'll be sharing how greeting cards can enhance your life and the lives of your loved ones and friends. How?

Let me explain...

A recent health study published in Psychological Science reveals that people experience less physical pain when they look at photographs of their loved ones.

Do you know someone who has physical pain--maybe arthritis or recent surgery? Why not send them a greeting card today and include a photograph--maybe one taken of the two of you together. I'm sure your thoughtfulness will be appreciated, and who knows, their pain just might be eased!
