Beat the "Blues" on Blue Monday

Today, Monday, January 25th has been designated the most depressing day of the year...Blue Monday. Dr. Cliff Arnall, mental health professional, tells us that the third Monday in January is the day of the year that most lends itself to depression or feeling "down."

Three reasons cited by Dr. Arnall for feeling "blue" on Blue Monday include...
  • more gloomy winter weather
  • debt carried over from Christmas and the holidays
  • New Year's resolutions already broken

While it might make sense that gloomy weather, holiday debt, and broken New Year's resolutions can lead to depression, take heart, because you're not doomed to depression on Blue Monday..today or any day.

Research shows that an attitude of gratitude can result in emotional healing in your stress-filled life. Some benefits of gratitude include...
  • ...feeling higher levels of well-being
  • ...coping better with changes in life
  • ...feeling happier
  • ...being less-stressed
  • ...sleeping better, and
  • ...being less-depressed

So, beat depression on this Blue Monday by expressing words of gratitude to a special person in your life. A quick, simple way to make a difference in your own life by making a difference in the life of another is to send online greeting cards.
